Preview/Tangent: Budget Remodeling

brokeThis will be just a tiny blog. For those of you who don’t follow us on Facebook (ahem), I shared this link earlier. It’s cheap and inventive remodels people have done.

So anyway, next blog will be about how to remodel on a budget. It won’t be quite as out of the box thinking as the link I’m posting here, but it will have a lot of guidelines and ideas to help you on your way.

Sinks, vessels, basins galore!

We just posted this slideshow video featuring some of the more stylistic sinks we have available on our site: [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfC1DWBZVXA]

This is similar to our last blog, but I’ve been perusing more of our catalog as I become better acquainted with our products. The staggering amount of design differences there are in sinks is something that dropped my jaw. I know that makes me sound like such a novice compared to other industry bloggers, but this blog has always been for our customers, and about the fundamentals of fixtures and new products.

It's like Jewelry

I just got done meeting the head of Human Resources and she said something that caught my attention. Talking with her I was saying that prior to working at PlumbTile.com I did not take notice of bathroom sinks, faucets, and bathtubs. Now I can see the difference when I walk into a bathroom between an ordinary bathroom and a bathroom that captures the essence of beauty and luxury. The options are endless and the designs are breathtaking. She said to me, “It’s like jewelry.” Continue reading →

Bathroom Blogging

Something that I want to get into more is exploring the other blogs out there that concern the topics we’re most invested in: decorative bath and kitchen fixtures and remodeling. So I’m going to introduce this unique blog:

http://bathroomblogfest.blogspot.com/

It have people share their horror and love stories they’ve had with different bathrooms.

I don’t have any pictures of it, but I do have a bathroom horror story.

It was 3 days before Christmas, and an upstairs toilet did not stop filling up after a flush. It was so slow that it was unnoticeable. After spending all night slowly overflowing, the whole family woke up to find that water was dripping from the ceiling in the guest bedroom, the whole bathroom floor, and the two surrounding vanity portions of the bathroom were flooded under about a half inch of water.

Since the water was leaking from the toilet, the plumber said that most likely we had blackwater seeping into the wood beams and studs. This could cause future mold growth, the type that’s severely harmful to your health. It had only been a few hours, so no mold had a chance to grow, but the presence of blackwater meant we had to strip out a significant portion of our house.

Luckily no one’s health was affected. We did decide to get a new brand of toilet, finding the highest quality unit we could afford. It also had a higher pressure system, so that a clog would be less likely.

So dear readers, what stories have happened in conjunction with your bathroom?

Jado Brings Grace and Function to their Bathroom Fixtures

jado-spoutA good way to start designing your bathroom is to ask yourself how you really want it to look. Are you after the farmhouse design ideal? Or are you searching for something uncomplicated? Perhaps you’re constrained by size and want something unobtrusive. I’ve found that Jado fits in perfectly with many of these aesthetics. They provide variations on classic looks, yet avoid idiosyncrasy for idiosyncrasy’s sake.
