A good way to start designing your bathroom is to ask yourself how you really want it to look. Are you after the farmhouse design ideal? Or are you searching for something uncomplicated? Perhaps you’re constrained by size and want something unobtrusive. I’ve found that Jado fits in perfectly with many of these aesthetics. They provide variations on classic looks, yet avoid idiosyncrasy for idiosyncrasy’s sake.
Jado has several current collections that are very distinct from each other, rather than having a few subtle differences on one basic template. I find this to be one of the better philosophies since it encourages individuality in each of a company’s products. They provide an elemental quality to their product lines, so that their Colonial line is unique from their Victorian which is also dissimilar to their Classic brand.
I am particularly drawn to older style fixtures, and Jado has a few collections that resonate with that design theme. My favorite of theirs is the 818 Series because of the simplicity, the modern archetypal layout and its compact size. I always look at the lavatory set first, since this is the most commonly used fixture out of anything any company offers. The 818 has a short faucet neck with the curve just at the end along with separate cross-handle hot and cold thermostats. I always love giving appreciation to simple yet effective design (click on the pictures for a link).
Their relic era stuff is great as well. The Victorian line has wickedly curved lavatory spreads that can come in an old bronze finish. This gives a darkly handsome look that would fit well in a farmhouse, classical, Victorian or antique motif. It’s a beautiful collection and I recommend it wherever you can fit it in.
Along with the simple, I always try to point out the futuristic as well, something that directs our attention towards tomorrow happening today. The Jean Nouvel Instead of having separate handles for temperature and flow control, there are discrete buttons on top of the unit to control on/off, hot and cold. Innovation like this is often hard to find, but Jado managed to make a fixture that’s deluxe and unique.
You can see the buttons along the top in the picture. The topmost is on, then a button for hotter, one for colder, and the last one with the “X” is the off switch.
Jado has one last line I couldn’t fail to mention. They have a faucet style called Swan that is well…a swan. I kid you not, their only spout for this series is in the shape of a swan. The only available finish we have is in gold, so you may be forgiven if you start imagining it as a golden goose filling your bathtub.
It’s certainly eye-catching.
