Hi there!

I’m the new guy. My name is Jim Hedger. I am working with Plumbtile to improve the Plumbtile.com website. As means of an introduction, I am a highly experienced webmaster with over a decade of high level web work under my belt. I have had an extremely fortunate career as a webmaster and hope to become a helpful resource for my new teammates and for the readers, shoppers and visitors to Plumbtile.com.I’ve been on the team for a month and am just about ready to start making significant changes to the design and text of the website. Believe it or not, it has taken that long just to feel comfortable with the size and scope of this website. It is an interesting challenge, one I am hoping the community of people who read this blog will help with.

Before making big changes, I figure it is both wise and respectful to ask the people who read and enjoy this blog what they want to see changed, what they like in the current site and what they would add if they were sitting in my chair. Please feel free to make any suggestions or requests in the comments section of this and future posts.

Here are a few things I’ve learned over the past thirty days. First, the Plumbtile.com website is enormous. There are over 15,000 unique web documents making up this website and it is growing larger every day. Next, there are a large number of legacy issues with the website. That’s natural for a website as large and as established as Plumbtile.com is.  Third, I have a lot to learn about the industry. No matter how much experience one has doing work around your own home, the kitchen and bath industry is extremely dynamic.

As anyone who has worked in the industry knows, nothing stays the same for long. There is always a new design, a new color scheme and a new way of thinking about personal comfort and home owners’ needs. I think that is extremely exciting.

Here’s the deal. I am a webmaster with a lay-person’s understanding of the kitchen, bath, tile and plumbing industry. I am hoping to share my personal growth in this position and, as the weeks go by, I hope to get to know many of the readers.

I’d like to thank the owners and the real home improvement pros at Plumbtile.com for giving me the chance to work on such an interesting website. I look forward to the challenges of the coming months and hope to provide as great a value to you the readers as Plumbtile.com offers consumers, contractors and designers.

Yours,

jim
