A lot of the products that Plumbtile.com deals in tend towards a minimalist design; or evoke a futuristic fashion statement. That is well and good, however, there are some customers out there who might want an investment quality brass fitting that could have been taken directly from the 1950s or earlier. Some companies have a selection of bathroom fixtures that hearken back to design eras that have passed us by, but Phylrich’s entire range of products provide an extraordinary traditional setting that will complete your classic French or English styled boudoir.

By combining tried and true models with modern fittings and construction, Phylrich puts out wonderful bathroom fixtures and accessories that live up to today’s quality standards. Often times when people see older fittings they figure they have all the wear and tear of decades, but Phylrich lets you bypass that. You won’t have to hunt for antiques to finish out a New England or Victorian style bathroom with their faucets.

While they have some swan motifs that have become more popular recently, I want to focus on a more classic aesthetic and follow it through with complementary choices from Phylrich’s product lines. First is their K272 lavatory faucet:

The ‘Regent Bleu Sodalite’ color of the marble on the handles has a royal quality which will elevate the elegance of the sink space. Phylrich has a full line designed to match the design here, but I felt it might be too ubiquitous to do an entire bathroom in that style. So while this has a low faucet and simple lines, I thought an intricate shower set would complement it. The K2394A with gray marble handles will continue the effect while varying the color palette. The handle rest is also antiquated in a charming way. Make sure to get the metal finished to match your other fixtures.

In the consideration of wall accessories, I’d suggest matching the metal form to your faucets. Those two pieces will be seen more often than the shower set if it’s a guest bathroom, and so their coherence is more important. The Georgian line fits well with the faucet, and runs the gamut of what you can install: towel bars, soap dish, robe hook, paper holder and cup.

Lastly there are doorknobs, which can be matched up by product line and marble color as well. If you’ve used marble handles promimently, I’d suggest going with a different style, to add variety. While the knobs do look very sleek, I’ve always preferred levers, especially when possibly dealing with wet hands or arms full of towels or laundry. In any case, the marble knob, Georgian knob and Georgian fit the layout perfectly.

Remember to match your finishes and gauge carefully the level of adornment on each piece. While they look absolutely elegant on their own, overdoing can happen very easily. If you’re not sure how elaborate a piece should be, try going simpler instead of something flashier.
