Provide a Base for Your Tile

The first thing you will want to do will be to provide a solid base for your tiles. If you already have an existing concrete slab you will want to make sure it is properly prepared before laying down your tiles. Make sure all concrete slabs are free from large cracks, holes, and crumbling concrete. This will interfere with your tiles when you lay them. You can fill in any small holes or cracks with concrete to make sure your base is a solid structure to hold your tiles. If you do have any crumbling, you will want to make sure it is structurally sound before starting any tile work. Crumbling may be a sign of some structural issues.
