Subway tile is a very simple but beautiful tile that can completely change up a bathroom. Some people look at subway tile as being boring and plain. Did you know that the original subway tile was white with a glossy glazed finish used as the wall surface standard in New York City, New York subway train stations in the early 20th century? However, today tiles have been completely modernized. They are still very easy to install.

Plumbtile has a great selection of subway tiles for you to choose from.

First what you will want to do is make a list of materials you will need.  You will want tiles, a level, a trowel, utility knife, grout, and a cutting board to cut the tiles.

What you will want to do first it wipe down the walls with a damp rag. If the walls are dirty or dusty, it may affect how well the Smart Tiles adhere. Next make sure to clear the walls of any plug or switch plate covers.

You will want to then measure a tile sheet to get the exact height. Make sure to use your level and measure horizontal and use straight edge ruler to cut one end of my first sheet square and butt it up against the door casing.

Once you have everything measured out you will want to lay the first row of tiles. Spread some glue on the back of the first tile using the notched edge of your trowel. This makes trenches in the glue so the tile sticks better. Then place the base of the tile on the timber shelf and flatten it onto the wall. Repeat until all desired tiles are in place. Once all tiles are in place and dried, you can then grout the tiles to keep them securely fastened against the wall.
