Easy Steps on How To Do It Yourself of marble installation in your kitchen

Add a marble sink and countertop to your kitchen is a heavy business that requires help and the right tools. You want to make sure you have measured your area to the cm to make sure when you order your material from PlumbTile.com it will fit perfectly. Make sure you have installed any new cabinets and backsplash first before you start adding the counter tops and sinks.

Step 1: Dry Run

Make sure you place everything where it out to be, and make sure there is enough spacing for the caulk and glue to be applied.

Step 2: Bracing

If you are going to be adding a marble sink or anything that will be extremely heavy you must place a wooden brace with 2×4’s as a bracing support system so it doesn’t eventually sag and crack your counter tops.

Step 3: Installing The Sink

After a support bracing system has been installed the sink should be able to be placed it is new cradled home position. Once the sink is in place and everything is cleaned up the counter can be installed. Make sure to check that there is a 1/4″ reveal or lip around all sides of the sink when the countertop is in position to ensure that the epoxy is sealed in correctly.

Step 4: Installing The Countertop

Once you have the countertop placed in it’s correct position and the entire surface has been wiped clean of all dust and debris for sealing, you have two sealing options. 100 percent clear silicone caulking adhesive which is extremely stick and will not discolor your light colored marble. Also you can dye your adhesive to try and match as closely as possible to your marble to blend in. Before you have prepared your adhesive, make sure to lay down strips of taped to guide the sticky adhesives as to try and not leak excess onto the counter top or walls.  Once the adhesive dries you can caulk around the area where you need a water tight seal. Remove the tapes and wipe the surface with water and a soft cloth to remove and stickiness, and be careful not to scratch the surface.

After you have fully installed your new marble countertops and sink it would be wise to seal the whole thing with a marble sealer since marble is extremely porous and can dull over time. Daily up keep requires nothing more than water (hot water for tricker stains) and a soft cloth like a microfiber cloth.

If you want to do a deep clean of the marble make sure you never use any harsh or acidic cleaners like vinegar or citrus cleaners. The best cleanser would be a ph-neutral dish soap. Make sure to never let water or any liquids air dry on the marble, so when your cleaning use the wax on wax off technique, or one wet microfiber cloth one dry microfiber cloth.

Now that you have learned to  install and maintain your new marble kitchen sink, remember to enjoy it because YOU did it!
