Installing Bathroom Fixture

Some things that get overlooked when updating your bathroom can be the simplest to install. If you are looking to finish off your bathroom with a gorgeous spa like shower head but do not know how to install one. These simple steps can help guide you in that direction. There are so many shower fixtures to choose from at Plumbtile. Such as Graff – Shower Panel and Handles or Dornbracht – Wall-Mounted Thermostat, With Rainhead And Hand Shower Set

Here are things you will need to install these fixtures properly:

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Thread tape
  • Drill
  • Drill bit
  • Screwdriver

First what you will want to do is remove the old shower head. Make sure to loosen and remove the shower head with an adjustable wrench by rotating counter-clockwise. Once that has been completed you will want to clean the threads of any water deposits and old tape. Make sure it’s completely clean using vinegar or a calcium cleaner. Then dry thoroughly with a paper towel.

Now you are ready to begin to install the shower fixture. First wrap the threads clockwise with threading tape about three times. Make sure to press the tape into the threads by grabbing hold of the threads and rotating clockwise, as if screwing on a new shower head. This will secure the shower head making sure there are no gaps for water to escape.

Hold the wall mount to the wall at the appropriate height. Drill through the screw holes. Screw the wall mount into place with the screws that came with the shower head. Use a manual screwdriver to ensure you don’t tighten the screws too much. We want to make sure you don’t strip any screws while allowing for the rest of installation before final tightening.

Screw the shower hose onto the threads you covered with threading tape. Hand tighten until you can’t tighten any further. Do not use a wrench. Your fixture should be fully secure.

Once you have done that you want to make sure there are no leaks by running the water for a few minutes. If there are no leaks make sure all screws are tightened and keep an eye on the fixture for the next week or so. Sometimes after installation and use the screws can loosen a bit.  head and mount for a week for any leaks or loose screws.
