Do you ever get mold build up in your bathroom? Well that can be attributed to poor ventilation. You always want to make sure you have some sort of ventilation system or a fan in your bathroom. Plumbtile has a Myson – Condensate Pump Kit that can help with any condensation from a shower to eliminate the mold or mildew buildup. Be sure to have this installed otherwise you may be doing more than just cleaning the tile. You may be replacing them. Of course, Plumbtile has everything you will need to remodel your bathroom.

But do you know how you get rid of mold? There are quite a few different things you can do to remove the mold. You always want to try something that is not too harsh with chemicals as it can ruin your tiles and be very toxic.

The first easy solution is to use hot water with soap and baking soda to remove most of the mold. The baking soda is an inexpensive, fume-free, gentle cleaning agent.  The great thing is that most people really just have this lying around. Another solution you can try is a bleach and water solution. You will want to mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 2 parts water. You will then transfer to a spray bottle. Spray the area with the bleach solution and allow it to dry. You will then want to spray it again and scrub with a brush. If there are still signs of mold you can repeat the process. Sometimes scrubbing can pull out the caulk so be sure to replace any of that and replace any of the caulk not cleanable. The trick is to make sure you seal up any areas that can be affected by water dew.

Another easy trick is to use vinegar. Did you know that you can use vinegar to prevent outbreaks of mold before they happen? Vinegar is reported to kill 82% of mold species, making it an effective solution for preventing mold in your bathroom. You will want to put mild white vinegar in a spray bottle without diluting it. Vinegar has a mild acidity, making anywhere you spray it very inhospitable for mold. Do not dilute the vinegar when placing it into the spray bottle; you want to use it at full-strength, not watered-down. You will want to spray the vinegar onto moldy surfaces and wait for an hour. Wait an hour and then wipe it down with hot damp rag.  Make sure to dry the area, you don’t want to open it up for more mold.

These are just a few tips and tricks to get rid of mold. Of course, if you need to replace any tiles contact one of our experts for help at Plumbtile.
