If you are like me, your shower curtain is the last thing you think about cleaning in the bathroom. It is always there when you need it but not a high priority in your bathroom cleaning routine, but it should be. With multiple uses your curtain will become a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Most shower curtains can just be taken down and put in the washing machine to clean but this doesn’t really keep it clean. Removing those tough stains can be easier than you think! Making your own cleaners will not only remove the dirt and mildew but also keep it looking like new. With a few household items you can make your own cleaner effectively and cost effective. Here’s how to do it:
Materials
- distilled water
- Borax
- white vinegar
- bucket
- dish soap
- funnel
Time to put it all together:
- In a large plastic bucket, add 1 cup Borax, 1 cup vinegar and 4 cups of distilled water. Mix well.
- Once the ingredients are mixed take the bucket to your shower pouring the mixture onto the shower curtain. Make sure you are wearing rubber gloves and using a sponge or scrub brush, scrub the shower curtain removing the dirt, mold and mildew. Once you are done scrubbing, rinse the cleanser off with clean water.
- To keep the curtain clean, using the funnel combine 2 cups vinegar, 2 tbsp. liquid dish soap and 1 cup distilled into an empty spray bottle and shake well. Keep this bottle next to the shower and use it to spray the curtain and wipe it clean after every use.
Do this and your shower curtain will stay looking new and you won’t have to scrub it ever again!
