  1. First think about decorating the walls. Since we can’t expand your walls think about your paint choices. Using lighter colors can make the room appear larger. We don’t all like light colors. In fact, I love pops of color. If lighter colors aren’t your style, then choose a more vibrant color to make a bold statement. Do not use dark colors as it will feel like the walls are closing in.
  2. Create some hidden cubby spaces. Customizing your room with hidden drawers under your bed or built in shelves can create a cleaner more cohesive look for a smaller room. Building a headboard bookshelf for storage can serve many functions.
  3. Choosing the right furniture is important to make sure your room doesn’t look packed with furniture. There’s nothing worse than walking into a cluttered room. One way to reduce clutter is to choose the proper bed. You may want to measure your room before choosing an extra-large bed. Possibly even choosing a loft bed with a desk or sofa underneath can create a more functional use of space. Choose a flat screen tv to hang on the wall. Why not make the most of some blank wall space.
  4. Finally do no over decorate your walls. The more items you hang on your walls the smaller the room becomes. Because your room is small, you will want to make it feel as open as possible. If you want to hang a few things on your walls mirrors can make the room appear open and light.
